THE IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING A PROJECT BOOK
When it comes to certain office supplies, I am very particular about what I use. There are only a certain number of pens I'll write with, usually the Pilot Hi-Tec C 04 or the G2 0.38, and I only use drafting pencils for exactly that. This also applies to how I like to document my work, only ever using Vela Science's lab books

These lab books are the quintessential hardcopy of all of my project files, containing the details of such that any engineer should be able to fully understand the project scope, milestones and end goals, client contacts, concept sketches, logical architectures, and project reflections. Although the majority of this information is usually in a very detailed and chronological folder structure on my PC, I do some of my best brainstorming and engineering calculations with paper and pen.

A project book doesn't only allow an engineer to communicate to others the structure and purpose of a project, but also helps to communicate to themselves what type of project work they have done in the past and to reflect on those results for certain lessons or future implementations. In a sense, it is the full PDCA cycle all in one place.
