LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Chi Omega Fraternity

Recruitment Chair

2016-2017

  • Responsible for organizing and executing recruitment at the beginning of the school year in order to continue the legacy of our chapter and the Chi Omega Fraternity

  • Developed and delegated tasks to individuals responsible for specific recruiting events and lead the chapter in their ritual roles by Nationals standards

  • Oversaw five formal interview parties, selection sessions, and the entirety of the chapter during recruitment and kept high-stressed and chaotic situations calm and controlled

  • Tracked recruiting statistics for National's end-of-recruiting report and managed the database system for our chapter concerning quota and attendance

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Mentor

2011-2016

  • Mentored my Little (6 years old) by tutoring her in her first and second grade classes, showing and leading her with examples of when to be polite, and overall being a role-model

  • Planned a lemonade stand with her by letting her pick the location, the price, and how to market and presenting an opportunity for learning entrepreneur skills

  • Coordinated a fundraising event by myself in order to raise awareness of BBBS and to raise money for the Great Big Challenge. For every $10 donated, I would practice lacrosse for an hour and post updates on my progress. My overall goal was $100 and I surpassed it by a total of $160.

Leadership Education and Development Program Participant

2013-2016

  • Took part in a 10 hour overnight case study on rejuvenating the community of Rose-Hulman's hometown and presented to various companies along with the Rose-Hulman executive board and the mayor of Terre Haute, winning 1st place

  • Addressed a crisis during a simulation and administered roles to other members while leading our team through multiple obstacles. In order to do so, communication, an understanding of roles, and open-mindedness was needed, along with understanding of each person's abilities and weaknesses. I have participated in the LEAD Crisis Simulation three times.

  • Completed the Leadership Academy Program where I took a Myers Briggs test and applied situational and transformational leadership styles to various situations and simulations

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

President Academic Chair

2016-2017 | 2015-2016

  • Selected to attend National Conferences for four years and Regional Conferences for three. During these conferences I participated in the Academic Olympiad Test against 30 other schools, placing 3rd, and presented for multiple overnight case studies. During Nationals, I have interviewed with multiple companies and have established connections that are still relevant to-day

  • Arranged and implemented a website system for our members to keep record of our file system, check on upcoming events, and answer polls and give feedback about the chapter

  • Utilized different formats for communicating with my executive board and chair members. I established exec meetings and chair meetings when needed and supported the chapter by creating more structure and organization

GENERAL LEADERSHIP

  • Attended multiple workshops throughout my college career focused on leadership, such as: Lean Six Sigma: 8 Wastes, Effective Communication, Building High Performing Teams, Six Sigma & Universal Engineering Practices, and Development Ladder Workshop

  • Improved processes for different companies by participating in 5s and Kaizen events. Most recently I coordinated a Kaizan plan to be implemented in the engineering department, more specifically for their NPI process, and suggested doing the following activities: current and future state process flow maps, a fishbone diagram, a standard pig activity, and a value stream map. I emphasized the importance of standardization and different functions within their system and influenced a conversation among the managers and the CEO of the company

  • I am not afraid to ask questions when I don't understand a concept or a conveyed idea - I would rather know how to approach a problem for future reference than to save face and never ask.
